Just when you thought he had realised UESP was better off without him, back comes Anarchasshole with a typically stupid edit.
During the day, The Great Deceiver and Case Number 01 (HMS Victory / Itachi) had made a couple of undos to stop the Oblivion:Soul Gem page being overwhelmed with useless crap that only applies to one person's game. It finished when TGD made one big undo that also nixed AA's last edit to the page.
TGD's edit summary was "Undo several edits - pointless to list particular merchants as all magic stores stock gems and most of them are random rather than fixed". AA's undo was summarised with "Not only is the difference in price between filled player gems & filled merchant gems shown neither in the article nor on the talk page, but Timmen specifically recommended a merchant list, see Talk". So let's see if either of our combatants has a point.
First, we need to look at Asshole's claim that Timenn Made An Order on the talk page. Well... not quite. There was a question back in September 2009 that asked "Should I put something in on this page about soul gems restocking, since right now it looks like the only place to find this is on the Soul Trap page ?" Timenn's reply was (partially) "Good idea, the article could benefit from a ''Acquiring Soul Gems'' sections. It would be best to give general tips on the acquisition of the gems (especially the higher qualities) instead of a long list of locations." So Timenn explicitly didn't want a long list of locations. Okay, Anarchasshole is wrong on one count. Next?
Second, is the difference between different types of soul gems explained? Asshole's version was "Soul gems found empty, whether as loot or bought from merchants, have a coin value which depends on the grade of soul gem, which does not change if the player later fills them with a soul. Merchant gems sold or found filled with a soul have a coin value which depends on the level of the soul within, regardless of the grade of gem. The coin values below are for soul gems sold and found filled; all gems filled by the player will sell for the 'Empty' value."
He obviously didn't scroll down the page to find this: "Note: These IDs and values are set at the time you acquire a soul gem, and do not get changed when you fill the soul gem with a soul. In other words, if you pick up an empty grand soul gem, its value will be 200 gold. That value does not change when you fill it. Therefore, you can end up with grand soul gems containing grand souls with two different values, both 200 gold and 500 gold."
In other words, Anarchasshole made two points and they're both wrong. Next?

ReplyDeleteNext, someone as reasonable as a writer who really meant that sentence would be seeing if Rpeh has a point. Interestingly, it either suits your sense of logic for you to rebut one set of points, to prove to yourself that the other set is sound, or the other is beyond reproach.
You are Rpeh, or someone very close to them, who probably lives in the same house. No doubt about it at all anymore. There are a score of regular editors at UESP, and half that are true regulars, on and editing every day. And yet, you write consistently about edits involving Rpeh in some way, and rarely write about discussions he was not a part of. You kind of like The Great Deceiver as a nickname, don't you? It makes you feel all clever and devious. Deception is not an insult, to someone who uses it to their advantage. And your comedy is melting away as you pursue your pet peeves, that is the real tell. This section is not even slightly amusing, other than to people I truly annoy. Proving people wrong consistently and thoroughly makes some of them dislike me, but one for sure is Rpeh. Hence this yawn of a rehash of the talk page. You did not want to confront me there, so you ran and hid in the place you knew you could play things the way you like; with insults and bare unreasoned assertion and a bully pulpit.
Your first point is a bit shaky, but your second is just flat out denial. Or you simply have trouble with long sentences, and evidence for that is accumulating. Or both.
Soul Trap does not change the value on empty found gems.
Soul Trap does not change the value on bought Soul Gems.
The price of empty gems, bought or found, depends on the grade of the gem.
The price of gems bought or found full depends on the grade of soul.

I see you are a coder. That explains so much. Coders start as a human beings, but the grinding tedious toil eventually makes most bitter and twisted and truly unpleasant to be around, whereupon they begin putting nasty little gotchas in their code. Insult comedy is about the only way you can relate to anyone, even the segment of the world addicted to the facile Zeitgeist of perpetual arseholedom.
My reply DOES deal with both yours and rpeh's edit summaries, but your reading level is obvious too low to comprehend that simple fact.

No, I'm not a programmer. Rpeh is, judging from his user page, but although I can read and write a little bit of code, I don't do it professionally and never have. Still, I have no idea where your "little gotchas" allegation comes from. You're making stuff up now.
Now fuck off and stop annoying everybody on both UESP and this blog.

The only person that claims to hate me, Elliot, is you. Other people may dislike me or find me arrogant or irritating, but you are the only one who hates me. All I can say is that I'm flattered. I really am. Unfortunately, you don't interest me in that way.
I tried to tell you this in private, but since you insist on telling the world of your love for me, I think it's necessary to give a similarly public dismissal. I used to think we might at least be intellectually compatible, but your insistence on making essentially the same silly posts time after time ruled that out long ago.
I know you're young. Most people your age and in your condition seek an authority figure, but you seem to reject them. Maybe when you find someone you can really love, you can trust them enough to provide the authority you need.
Until then, I'm afraid, I can only give you the advice I've given before: you're 19 years old so get off the Internet and go out and meet some people. You may learn how to interact with others by doing so.
