Storm in a Teacup

I had intended to skip this topic, but the way in which the argument keeps going makes it unmissable.

Things started with this edit, which deleted a section of a page on a largely irrelevant mod called FCOM. If you look over the history of that page, you will notice that for the last year, nothing much except deletions and reversions has taken place on it, so how did such a controversy erupt?

The answer is this edit from The Great Deceiver in which he fully blanked the page and redirected it to the FCOM site because he didn't believe the page was being maintained. A day later, a user named Haama restored the page and then exploded on the CP.

What follows is a fascinating back-and-forth debate where Haama, and another user called DragoonWraith acting like the world was about to end, and TGD defending his actions.

So what do I think about it? Well TGD's actions seems a little extreme, but the overreaction by the other editors has been incredibly funny to watch.

Ah. I see Timenn is trying to stop things going any further. Good luck on that score!

  1. Hear that? It's the sound of nobody caring.

  2. I always knew this story was a bit weak. Stuff happens.

  3. Sorry to have been curt/rude, it's just a really weak story and kind of pointless lol

  4. Aaahh! The refreshing sound of silence...

  5. Having now had to deal with Rpeh myself, I can see why you're so bitter about him.

Still, you could do with less dripping bias and more hard fact in your posts.

  6. Arthmoor, if you stopped trying to have the last word and stopped stamping your foot so much, people would take you more seriously. Rpeh may be a dick at times, but my first impressions of you at UESP are "Wow! What a TOTAL dick!"

Oh - and the current top story on your blog is something called Maths. Try it with 1234567 or 9876543 and it still works.

  7. That's the most laughable thing I've heard yet. One random argument and you think you know the first thing about me. Rich.

I'm also perfectly aware that it's called math and that it would work with any random 7 digit sequence. It's still trippy the way those things work.

Also - way to instantly validate other peoples' opinions of your extremely hostile and bitter nature. People might take you more seriously if you'd stop jumping into random arguments there as anonymous IPs.

  8. There was also something else I did there, did you see it?

The only dickheads I see there are Rpeh and his sock puppets. He seems to have quite a number of them that conveniently pop up.

Also, I readily admit to being an asshole. Political correctness has no place for me. I call things as I see them. It sometimes gets me into trouble, but I'll die happy.

  9. This is looking to be the least critical month since the creation of this blog! Perhaps the storm is passing...
    (...Nah, I'm just kidding myself).

  10. Since Elliot and Ratwar were kicked out things were bound to be less hypocritical. Those two were the worst parts of UESP and the main reason I created this blog. It was because of them that I left in the first place.

Now all we have is Nephele writing pious novels, Rpeh snapping at people, RobinHood making hundreds of pointless edits (he's like the new Elliot but without the obnoxiousness and with a functional brain), and that's about it. Sure, modders have turned up to be obnoxious but that's what they do best. Arsemoor will go away before long.

Believe me, I would rather see UESP follow its own rules, and I would be glad if there was no need for this blog any more.

  11. I just noticed this comment from Arsemoor on his blog, which contradicts what he said above. "Pretty good chance it only works with US phone numbers, or other systems that also use 7 digits for the local number."

    Idiot.

  12. Too bad that doesn't contradict "work with any random 7 digit sequence" since, well, US phone numbers ARE random 7 digit sequences. Nice try though.

Also, thanks for considering me worthy of a cool nickname. I'm sorry I don't feel the same about you to even mention you, let alone give you a cool new nickname.

  13. So why the comment, moron? And don't put quote marks around something you didn't say. You never used the word random at all.

I don't care if you want to mention me or not. I've got my own page on ED.

  14. May not be all that interesting, but Rpeh's little bot problem has been going on awhile. He even claimed that he's done more patrolling then anyone.

  15. Well... he has. He may be a PITA at times, but nobody can deny he does more work on UESP than anyone else.
