Can This be True?

Rumours reach the panopticon at UESPWatch Towers that Rpeh is about to be approached regarding a return to UESP. I'm mentioning it because it's UESP-related news, not because I believe it.

I still haven't made my mind up whether I believe Rpeh or not. My head says "he did it" but my heart says "why would he?". Either way, I don't think there's any way The Great Deceiver can work with Elliot the Thick. If the only way Rpeh can come back is by The Powers That Be kicking out EtT.... I can't see it happening. As my last post pointed out, there's not enough activity from other admins at the moment. If Rpeh came back, they would need to be looking over their shoulder all the time.

Can't see it happening... but it's still interesting!

  1. Can this be true? No. Your source needs to lay off the cheap booze for a while.

  2. Tiber, my boy, where in the world do you get this silly information?

  3. Not telling you. I did say I didn't believe it though.

  4. Then why bother creating this blog post in the first place? Now it's you who's wasting everyone's time. A reporter wouldn't place unverified rumors in the newspapers. Now UESP Watch isn't anything better than a gossip blog.

  5. RTFA: "I'm mentioning it because it's UESP-related news, not because I believe it."

  6. It's a UESP-related rumor, not UESP-related news. News is when something actually happens. You just created a rumor, not news.

  7. That doesn't change the fact that you still reported it.

  8. I didn't claim it did, but YOU claimed I created the rumour.

  9. I also claim to be the third shooter on the grassy knol. So who created the rumor?

  10. The person who reported it to me. And no, I'm not telling you who it was.

  11. This still doesn't change the fact that you reported a rumor and not news.

  12. I'm not claiming to be The Guardian or the New York Times. I'll post whatever I like, thanks.

  13. Agreed, you're certainly not The Grauniad or The New York Times.

  14. Rpeh, stop trying to fool people. It's just sad.

  15. I'm not going to call you stupid but you seem to be resistant to evidence. THIS is rpeh. If you doubt it, email me through UESP (the email is still active) and ask me to post a code that you provide on this site.

The last post I made on UESP was the goodbye I posted on the Admin Board. Since then I have looked at the site a few times (90% due to things I've read here). I have chatted to a couple of other UESP people on IRC and IM and even looked something up for one of them in the CS - as a favour to a friend.

Apart from that, I'm enjoying life away from the site. I had been growing more and more disillusioned with UESP and was going to take a long, long break even before the You Know What happened. I have no desire - NONE - to rejoin the site at the moment.

If people want to think that Tiber Septim is me then I can't stop them. Some of the stuff that he has said I can agree with. Some of it is total nonsense. Some of it has a grain of truth but is taken too far.

To pick on a couple of things:
    * I have no problem with any UESP admin. I've disagreed with most of 'em at various points - and I won't deny that some debates with one or two admins got a bit acrimonious - but I have nothing but respect for all of them.
    * The same is true of all (bar one) of the patrollers. Some of the crap that Tiber Septim has said about RobinHood70, for instance, is way, way out of line. I'm glad to see he has praised one or two of the new group though.
    * Since Tiber Septim only rarely comments on anything useful, there isn't much I can say about his proposals for the site, but on one thing I disagree. I think including the editorid for NPCs would be useful. There are several cases where the editorid hints at a different background to a character (Dion being Dionne for example: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Dion - I wrote that one so I could find it easily). I'm not sure I agree with adding the edid to the title but my opinion doesn't matter any more anyway.

There's more but this is already long enough for a comment. Any longer and I'll have to start a blog called UESPWatchWatch.

  16. Ugh - I mean email me a code and I'll post it here. My phrasing wasn't very clear there....
